Our History

HighPoint Orchard was established in the spring of 2005 by owners, Karen and Randy Cyman. HighPoint is located on 15 acres located in northwest Decatur County, just three miles north of Historic Greensburg, Indiana and next to the Honda Automotive plant (I-74; exit 132). The historic, federal style home, built by Jonathan D. Pleak in 1858. HighPoint, being one of the highest elevations in the county, offers scenic views of the Upland reservoir and rural countryside. HighPoint grows more than twenty-five varieties of apples, peaches and Asian pears.

In 2009, Karen and Randy Cyman (as the visionary) renovated the “Ole Mill Barn” (historic, two level barn, originated in 1854). HighPoint filled a niche within the community for event space. Since the renovation, the Mill Barn has been the “HighPoint” of many special events ….weddings, bridal and baby showers, class reunions, graduation and holiday parties, corporate training, meetings, etc.

The HighPoint team, with its “on the job” experience assists clients with set up, clean up and various responsibilities during entertaining to ensure guests and clients are enjoying each other and celebrating their particular event. All catering is done onsite.

In Our Hearts Forever...

We share with a loving heart, Randy Cyman, co-founder/owner of HighPoint, was called to join the Lord in the heavenlies November of 2017, while hunting with his beloved bird dog, Millie. Randy loved the history of “Pleak’s Hill”, as locals refer to the property. He was a knowledgeable orchardist and enjoyed caring for and working the land.

During the last few years, following retirement (40 years in the automotive industry), Randy loved selling apples at the local farmer’s market. He enjoyed the many customers who visited him each week.

Randy is surely missed for his sharp sense of humor, his knowledge of the orchard, his vision and everything he “brought to the table”.

The orchard is located on hilly terrain providing protection against spring frost and the moisture off the Upland Reservoir makes growing conditions ideal for fruit. We feature more than 20 varieties of apples, peaches and Asian pears.

Our orchard hillsides, historic buildings (Home, smoke house/kitchen-1858 and Mill Barn-1854), special events, and exceptional food service capabilities make HighPoint the perfect venue for corporate outings and group visits.

HighPoint Orchard has been a favorite destination for food and country fun from young to old. Exciting memories are made by the many visitors each year.

Enjoy a delicious snack in our Apple Barn or relax with a picnic on our grounds or Old Mill Barn deck overlooking the orchard and reservoir. We schedule family oriented events throughout the year that are educational and fun for all.
